milkdropEdgerton Center

Since 2000, the Edgerton Center has partnered with CEHS to offer Lessons available to Middle and High School groups visiting MIT.  These lessons provide an introduction to Environ- mental Health Science and basic genetics.

Summerbridge prepares thousands of underprivileged middle school students for college preparatory courses.  COEC has provided Science programming for the Cambridge site since 2005.

COEC collaborated with the MIT Museum to develop a unique classroom/exhibit called the Learning Lab: the Cell.   Teachers bring classes to the museum for a two hour hands-on lesson with a facilitator where students use models to learn how DNA makes proteins.

MIT K-12 Educational Programs
MIT has a wide variety of K-12 Educational Outreach programs available to the public, and COEC is proud to be included in this group.

High school biology teachers can find excellent prepared lessons based on articles from a major international journal, Environmental Health Perspectives, a publication from NIEHS.    See:   http://www.ehponling.org/science-ed/ Teachers can search for lessons by topic.  Some lessons are short as 15 minutes and others take more than one class period.  Some can be used as a homework assignment.
