MIT's CEHS outreach staff uses hands-on models of  DNA and chromosomes from LEGO Education to teach basic biology.   Basic concepts in molecular biology are necessary for understanding environmental health science.

This article describes an engaging hands-on lesson that CEHS created in population genetics using the LEGO Chromosome set.  The effect of a genetic susceptibility to an environmental toxin can be discovered by the students in the course of this activity.
