Teacher Workshop - Workshop Closed!
Please bookmark this page for our 2009 workshop
series.
Tuesday, July 22 and Thursday,
July 24, 2008
Come to the MIT Campus in Cambridge, MA for two days with colleagues
and MIT researchers on the topic of DNA and gene- environment
interactions.
Led by COEC Director Kathy Vandiver, each day begins with several
engaging activities to refresh core concepts including cell division,
mutation, DNA damage and repair, and protein synthesis. We
include a trip to the MIT Museum's Learning Lab: the Cell.
Past workshops have included afternoons featuring lab work and research
presentations on DNA
damage and repair by
Professors Jeffrey Coderre and Bevin Engelward. A hands-on
investigation with mutant yeast cells has been conducted in the Samson
Lab.
